Only a sinner can become a sannyasin. 'Sin' in Hebrew means forgetfulness, not wrongdoing—any unconscious act is sin. The saint is a false coin imitating the sage, who lives spontaneously. We leave God to forget, so we can remember again.

From the Body to the Soul

Jesus' 'seek and find' is half the truth; Lao Tzu's 'seek not and find' is the other half. Search must begin to make you alert, then be dropped into silence. Religion talks God directly, not about God.

A Flute on the Lips of God

The miser is cut off from the infinite source. Giving opens you to receive: the more you give, the more you have—like a well fed by hidden springs. The clinging king is the beggar; Buddha who gives is king.

Capitalism is not an ideology but natural freedom; communism imposes linear conformity, destroying variety and talent. Equality is unpsychological—people are unique. Judas betrayed Jesus from ego's revenge against surrender, not merely for thirty silver coins.

A Thousand and One Ways to Laugh

Makeup is the invention of the ugly—hiding nature rather than improving it. Improve upon nature through inner health, not imposition. Charlie Chaplin lost his own lookalike contest. Falseness on the body breeds falseness of the soul.

Aes Dhammo Sanantano

One cannot be enlightened—enlightenment happens only when 'one' is not. Nirvana means cessation, disappearance. Buddha denies self, soul, and being. The greedy demand proofs; love never asks. Miracles never convince a doubting mind.

Silence and Song Meet

The mind is a pendulum swinging between aloneness and togetherness, poverty and wealth. Inside and outside are inseparably one. Monks escape 'the other' but miss love. The sage embraces both—silence and song meet.

The Very alphabet of Love

Love never hurts; lust and ego pretending to be love cause the pain. Lust uses others as means; love respects them as ends. Pure love expects nothing—a sharing of joy, almost a prayer.

Everybody Can Laugh

Fear is the absence of love, as darkness is the absence of light. You cannot fight darkness directly—bring in light. Don't make a problem of fear; start loving. The more you give, the more you have.

The Suchness of Things

Lao Tzu: 'Knowing the not-knowing—that is high.' The unknowable differs qualitatively from the unknown. Life is a mystery, not a problem. D.H. Lawrence and the child: don't explain, just be. Meditation is the eye that sees.

From Italy to Nirvana

Do nothing and things settle themselves—the microphone, the Rolls Royce. Tension comes from trying. The world's craziness has an intrinsic balance. Sannyasins are here to do nothing, just sit in the sun. Imitation won't do—be original.

Of Course the Grass Grows by Itself

This is religiousness, not religion—a love affair, not a creed. Majnu and Laila: to see her beauty you need Majnu's eyes. Sannyasins don't convince others; their hearts have started ringing. The grass grows by itself.

The Forgotten But Not the Lost

Enlightenment is a joke—you are already enlightened, just forgot. Sammasati means right remembrance. Bodhidharma laughed seven days: the seeker was the sought. Rabiya searched outside for a needle lost inside. You can forget your nature but never lose it.

No Question Means the Answer

No question means the answer. I destroy your questions and give no answers. When questions and answers both disappear, that is samadhi—pure consciousness like a mirror reflecting what is. Gertrude Stein's deathbed: 'What is the answer?'
