How to setup and install the Osho Books Library on your computer
General
The Osho Books Library is a set of Markdown text files that can be read in any editor.
This is the identical text that is on the famous "Osho Books on CD ROM" that was created in the 1990s.
The "Osho Books on CD ROM" used software that is not available anymore and there were never any updates. Hence this transfer
to a more modern, open format.
This system uses some software called Obsidian to view, search and index the books and
is highly recommended. It is free software and easily installed.
So the first step is to install the Obsidian software.
The second step is to install the text files containing the texts.
Installing Obsidian
The software can be found on the
Obsidian website and is available for a variety of system.

Once the required package is downloaded and installed, you can run the program. On the first run
you will be asked to create or open an existing vault. At this point simple exit the program and proceed
with
the next section Installing the texts
Installing the texts
On a Windows based system, create a folder (Documents\Obsidian for example) and unzip the package there.
This will create \Documents\Obsidian\OshoLib.
Then start Obsidian, at the start screen you will be asked if you want to open or create a vault. Select
Open a folder as vault
and then go to the folder that you have created above (e.g. \Documents\Obsidian) and select the new OshoLib
folder.
Obisidian will then open the vault and show the starting page. It is important to select the OshoLib folder
and start from there.
You will be asked if you trust the author of the vault to load the plugins. Select "Trust the author and
enable plugins".
There may be a wait of a few minutes the first time as an index is created of the files.
On a Mac OS system, unzip the package into a place of your choice (normally in "Documents").
Then start Obsidian, at the start screen you will be asked if you want to open or create a vault. Select
Open a folder as vault
and then go to the folder that you have created above (e.g. Documents/OshoLib). Obisidian will then open the
vault
and show the starting page. There may be a wait of a few minutes the first time as an index is created of
the files.
Using the Osho Books Library
On starting Obsidian the first time, there will be a dialog about indexing the files. This will finish in a
few minutes
and only appears the first time that OshoLib is run. There may also be a dialog showing the activated
plugins, just close that.
You should be on the Osho Books Library home page. Explore! And enjoy!
